Frequently Asked Questions
► What is the difference between a skylight and a rooflight?
There is no technical difference between a rooflight and a skylight, It is more a case of what name is used commonly. In the UK, rooflight is the more common term.
► Do you need planning permission to install a rooflight window?
As a general rule, you don’t need planning permission as long as you follow these conditions;
Rooflights can not protrude more than 150 millimetres above the existing roof plane. No changes can be higher than the highest part of roof or stand out above the roof ridge.

► How long do rooflights last?
Maintaining your rooflights might seem like an unnecessary chore, especially when Roof Maker rooflights have a life expectancy of 30 years, but to give them the best possible chance of lasting that long whilst looking their best, you’ll need to do a bit of easy maintenance.
► How much do skylights cost?
The cost of your skylight will depend on the skylight you choose and any additional services you might need.
